Those are fucking awesome.
Like the Malibu/Century/Pontiac-thing sedans and wagons that everyone turns into drag racers and hot rods now because they're cheap, RWD, fairly small and light, and you can stuff big honkin V8's in them!
But hatchback!!!! +9999999 Jalop points!

If I were to buy this and build it I think I might go with a 3.8 supercharged but not sure they can go RWD.

I'd totally rock that and its Cutlass Salon sister.

I dont think I am confident or emotional mature enough to withstand the prospect of driving this thing daily and taking girls out in it.

My buddy has one of these. In shit brown. With a white vinyl roof. They look like hatchbacks in person, but they're just weirdly-trunked sedans.

The supercharged V6s were, to my knowledge, never used in a RWD application. The N/A ones were used in the 4th gen Camaro's and the superchargers are very easy to come by, so still definitely a thing you should do.

yes. I was wondering if those camaro versions were the same.
Here is my hypothetical build
1979 Buick Century
3.8 Supercharger
T56 Manual 6 speed
Fat disc brakes all around
throw a catalog of suspension parts at it
leave everything else alone
CRUISE!
